Yes, it IS a cliché, but there is something for everyone to enjoy and discover in the Lake District. Apart from incredible hikes and outdoor adventures that await, you may find that some of these places deserve a place on your itinerary.

DERWENT PENCIL MUSEUM

Fun fact, the home of the first pencil, the Cumberland Pencil company has been producing pencils since 1832. Trace the history of how the humble pencil is made at the museum, just before the pencil factory a few minutes walk from Keswick town centre. It is also home to the world’s biggest pencil. You’ll never see the pencil in the same light again!

THE PUZZLING PLACE

Not only will your eyes deceive you, but your brain may feel a little overwhelmed during your time here! A multi-generational activity that will have you laughing as you move through the various rooms and exhibitions. You just have to experience it for yourself. An indoor attraction in Keswick, booking in advising during school holidays and rainy days.

HONISTER SLATE MINE ADVENTURE

Perhaps you need the thrill of adrenaline running through your veins whilst on holiday. In that case we suggest that this is the place to visit. Go deep underground and explore the mines or climb the iconic Via Ferrata Classic route led by an experienced guide. The longest hire wire bridge in Europe is also here and takes you 1000ft above sea level. Adventure awaits you right here. Located approx. 30 mins drive from our Bed and Breakfast.
